Randall Publishing Company's
trucking magazines
win prestigious awards
Tuscaloosa, Ala. (June 27, 2002)
– Randall Publishing Company's Overdrive, Truckers News and Commercial
Carrier Journal trucking magazines received 15 national and regional awards,
including Overdrive's Honorable Mention as Magazine of the Year, from
the American Society of Business Publication Editors.
"These awards prove that our publications continue to provide readers
with the information they need to run their business and careers and to
stay on top of their equipment," said Jeff Mason, vice president and group
publisher. "We're thrilled that a trade association recognizes the high
quality of industry and journalistic expertise that our editors and designers
bring to each magazine."
Overdrive was the only trucking magazine recognized in the Magazine of
the Year competition. Overdrive was one of two magazines receiving an
Honorable Mention as Magazine of the Year in the 80,000 or more circulation
category.
Overdrive also received the national Gold Award for best feature, recognizing
its stories about depression among drivers, and a national Bronze Award
for best cover photo for its depression cover story.
The other national honor won by a Randall publication was a Silver Award
for Signed Editorial. The winning entry was CCJ Editor Paul Richard's
column, "Technically Speaking."
