Dallas Convention Center Expansion Complete
Facility bigger and better than ever!
Dallas, TX, USA. (October 2, 2002)
– The two-year, $130,000 million renovation and expansion of the Dallas
Convention Center (DCC) is now complete, with the state-of-the-art facility
ready for use. The DCC currently encompasses more than one million square
feet of exhibit space, including nearly 800,000 square feet of same level,
contiguous prime exhibit space. With the project's completion, the DCC
is now ranked as one of the seven largest convention facilities in the
United States.
The new Hall F is the largest singular column-free exhibit hall in the
world, containing 203,000 square feet. Two massive steel trusses, each
850-ton and 110-foot-high, were required to construct the hall that now
features 40-foot ceilings and 10 easily accessible truck berths, bringing
the center total to 75 berths. The trusses, installed to create the singular
column-free space and lofty ceilings, have changed the downtown skyline
dramatically.
GATS 2003 will be located in the new Hall F, a definite advantage for
GATS exhibitors. "The new hall has better lighting and is wider than the
other halls," noted Warren Sellers, show manager for Sellers Expositions,
"creating a large square area and allowing for better traffic flow. We
are also optimistic about onsite truck parking this year, located adjacent
to Hall F in the Reunion Arena lot."
The DCC now includes a total of six exhibit halls (A through F), and a
total building square footage of 2.27 million square feet. The center
is one of the most technologically advanced convention facilities in the
nation, and the first convention center in the country to have wireless
internet service in all its major halls and ballrooms. It contains the
first urban heliport designed to accommodate tilt-rotor aircraft and an
exclusive light rail station that carries event attendees between the
center and major city destinations and hotels. The 105 meeting rooms have
also been renovated and provide easier room connections. To enhance the
attractiveness of the center, special artwork on loan from the Dallas
Museum of Art is displayed throughout the facility.
The expansion and renovation gives the DCC a new entrance, new 21,000
square foot front entry lobby with a grade-level bus drop-off area and
an under-the-building tunnel exit to facilitate flow. Also included is
a light rail system that provides a pedestrian link to the six exhibit
halls. Information can be obtained by visiting the center's newly launched
website at www.dallasconventioncenter.com.
The DCC is now more comfortable and versatile than ever, including superior
lighting, excellent acoustics and an attractive décor. Excitement is building
for The Great American Trucking Show 2003 (GATS) on September 26-28. To
exhibit at the world's second largest trucking show or for more information,
call 888-349-4287 (GATS) or 812-949-9200. GATS 2003 information will be
available soon online at www.gatsonline.com.
