Randall-Reilly buys Kona Communications
Acquisition further strengthens company’s position in the trucking market.
TUSCALOOSA, ALA. (Jan. 19, 2007) – Randall-Reilly Publishing Co. today announced the purchase of Deerfield, Ill.-based Kona Communications, a 37-year-old, privately held publisher with properties in trucking distribution and the aftermarket. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition adds Truck Parts and Service and Successful Dealer magazines to Randall-Reilly’s impressive list of holdings in the trucking industry, which includes Commercial Carrier Journal, Overdrive, Truckers News, Trañsportista (formerly Truckers News en Español), NextTruck and the Great American Trucking Show. The company’s properties now cover virtually all aspects of the trucking market, including fleets; owner-operators; new, used and leased truck purchases; driver recruitment; and vehicle sales, maintenance and repair.
“Truck Parts and Service and Successful Dealer are leaders in the markets they serve, making them an excellent fit with our existing properties,” says Mike Reilly, Randall-Reilly president and CEO. “This acquisition furthers our goal of offering trucking industry suppliers a property to meet each of their marketing needs.”
Kona’s founder, President and CEO Jim Moss, will remain with the magazines in an advisory role throughout the transition period. “I am most pleased that our properties have found a home in the heart of the trucking industry,” Moss says. “Randall-Reilly is the most complete provider of information services to our industry, and Mike Reilly and I have agreed on an aggressive, forward looking game plan which will lead to increased market presence for both of our books.”
Randall-Reilly Publishing will retain Kona Communications’ existing offices in Deerfield, Ill.
