Randall-Reilly launches ProPickup magazine
New publication targets hardworking pickup truck market

TUSCALOOSA, ALA. (May 2010) Randall-Reilly, the nation’s leading business-to-business media company serving the construction and trucking markets, this month launched ProPickup magazine (www.propickupmag.com) for the professional owner whose pickups are integral to the success of his business.

ProPickup is aimed at our construction industry readers who use their pickups seven days a week,” says Dan Tidwell, vice president/group publisher of Randall-Reilly’s Construction Division. “They depend on their pickups to get the job done on the jobsite, then hit the road for recreational activities on the weekends.”

Key to ProPickup’s editorial approach is content honed around a BPA-audited audience of more than 208,000 recipients. Distributed on a quarterly basis, the first issue of ProPickup will be packaged with the May issues of all magazines in Randall-Reilly’s Construction Division: Equipment World (76,290 circulation*), Total Landscape Care (74,100*), Better Roads (38,000*), and Aggregates Manager (20,000*). Recipients include heavy, highway and utility contractors; landscapers involved in variety of landscape services; transportation officials at all levels of government and aggregate producers.

“These are not weekend warriors, but rather business owners who accessorize their pickups so they can get the most performance out of them on-road and off, all while maintaining the professional image that’s so critical to their businesses,” says Marcia Gruver, editorial director, Randall-Reilly Construction Division. “ProPickup will be targeted specifically to their interests.” The Spring issue includes:

  • Project Big Boss, which takes a new Ram 2500 Crew Cab 4x4 diesel and customizes it step-by-step over an 8-month period.
  • Towing and tow ratings: A close look at the difference between “weight-carrying” and “weight-distributing” maximum towing capacities.
  • Pulling power: What you need to know about winches and what’s new for 2010 in both electric and hydraulic heavy-duty pickup winches.
  • Plus a review of mud tires, a roundup of aftermarket exhaust systems, and the latest products in the pickup market.

“Contractors in particular want more than a standard truck,” says Gruver. “Our research shows us our readers own on average more than eight pickups each, and they’re interested in pickup-related details, including information on lifts, trailer hitches, tool boxes, bed liners and lighting systems.”

In addition to its Construction Division titles, Randall-Reilly also publishes several award-winning trucking publications, including Overdrive, Truckers News and Commercial Carrier Journal, and produces the Great West Truck Show-Vegas and the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas.
