Now that 2021 is officially behind us we wanted to take a look back to see what the data is telling us. We crunched the numbers and compiled the findings to bring you a summary of all the 2021 driver recruiting trends.
The following metrics are sourced from truck driver recruiting campaigns managed by Randall-Reilly. Recent trends are detailed below in an effort to review driver employment activity.
The American Transportation Research Institute conducted a study to try and identify driver motivations and satisfaction levels. They surveyed drivers using eight motivating factors, and asked them to rate their importance ranging from extremely important, to not important at all. They also asked the drivers to then rate their satisfaction level with each of the eight factors using a similar scale.
Demand for for-hire truck transportation exhibited an uptick on a seasonally adjusted basis in the fourth quarter of 2021 based on the for-hire trucking ton-mile index, an index assembled by Yem Bolumole at the University of Tennessee and myself based on linking output from 41 freight generating sectors identified from the Commodity Flow Survey.
